Wildlife Region

Sydney

For those who have visited Sydney, it is little surprise that the city is consistently ranked as the world’s top tourist destination. The sparkling waters of Sydney Harbour and stunning skyline is regarded as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world. What is surprising is the diverse wildlife viewing opportunities at Sydney’s doorstep.

Sydney has more marine species than any other harbour in the world and is a prime location to observe the incredible Humpback Whale migrating from Antarctica to the Great Barrier Reef each year. Further out to sea where the continental shelf drops off, the region is one of Australia’s best pelagic birding sites, with an abundance of albatross, petrels, gannets and shearwaters.
